When you need a TV taken down
Most TV dismount calls come from one of four situations:
- Moving out. The TV has to come off the wall before the movers pack, and the landlord wants the wall back without holes.
- Remodeling or painting. Walls need to be clear for paint or new drywall — or the single TV is making way for a multi-screen media wall.
- A new TV. The old one comes down and the new one goes up — that's our TV replacement service.
- Rearranging. The TV moves to another room or another wall.
Whatever the reason, a mounted TV is heavier and more awkward than it looks, and a panel dropped at an angle cracks easily. Our TV removal and dismount service takes it down safely and leaves the wall in good shape.
Taking the TV off the bracket
Most mounts hold the TV with safety locks — screws, pull-cords or latches at the bottom of the TV brackets — that must be released before the TV lifts off. Missing them is how DIY dismounts go wrong: the TV sticks, gets pulled harder, and the panel twists.
We release the locks, lift the TV straight up and off (two people for anything over about 55 inches), and lay it face-up on a padded surface. Before that, every cable is photographed and labeled, so reconnecting at the new place is easy.
Removing the mount and patching the wall
With the TV down, the bracket is unbolted. Lag bolts come out of the studs; toggle bolts are removed or pushed through; masonry sleeves are unscrewed or cut flush. Then every hole is filled with patching compound and smoothed so it's ready for paint. On textured walls, we match the texture as closely as we can by hand.
For renters, this is often the difference between getting a deposit back or not, and for sellers it's what makes listing photos look clean.

Remounting in another room — or at your new home
If the TV is moving to another room, we can mount it there on the same visit. The existing mount can usually be reused if it suits the new wall and position; if you're going from a fixed mount in the living room to a corner in the bedroom, you may want a full-motion mount instead.
If you're moving to a new home in one of our regions, book a TV wall mounting visit at the new address for after the movers. Our read on TV dismounting and relocation covers the moving-day timeline.
Dismounting on moving day
Timing matters when you move. We keep early and same-day slots, so the TV comes down before the movers arrive and is ready to be boxed. Tip: if you still have the TV's original box and foam, keep it — it's the safest way to move a flat panel.
