Queen Anne on Longwood Drive
Studs sat unevenly behind thick plaster; test holes inside the plate's footprint found two, and a wide mount spanned them.

Beverly is two neighborhoods in one: the Ridge, with Victorians and Prairie houses built 1870 to 1930, and postwar blocks west of Western that were prairie until the 1940s. Pavlo knows both walls, brings the mount and can usually come the same day at a flat price.
TV mounting in Beverly is flat-rate: $119 up to 60", $129 for 61–85" and from $179 for 86" and larger, plus $40 for each additional TV. Mounts from $39, cables hidden in a raceway for $39 or inside the wall for $69. No travel fee and no surcharge for plaster or brick.
Ridge Historic District homes have plaster over wood lath, deep oak trim and irregular stud spacing. We find studs with test holes, drill slowly and use a wide mount when the studs don't match the TV. Studs behind plaster.
Brick Georgians and Cape Cods have brick fireplaces in the living room and finished basements. Sleeve anchors in solid brick, masonry anchors on basement foundation walls, and a heat check above the firebox. TVs over fireplaces.
In a Beverly living room, the fireplace is the only wall without windows. When the mantel is low the TV goes above it; when it's high, a pull-down mount ($99) brings it to eye level. Brick and masonry.
Finished basements with a bar and a sectional are where the family watches the game. Masonry anchors on the foundation walls, cables to the utility room. Concrete walls.
19,422 homes and about 45,942 residents. The age and type of a home decide what is behind the drywall, so we check this before we quote.

U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020–2024 5-year estimates: year built, units in structure, tenure. Census figures for ZIP Code 60643 — there is no separate Census boundary for Beverly.
The Census puts Beverly's median year built at 1950, and 66.6% of homes predate 1960, so most TV walls here are plaster, not drywall. On the Ridge it sits on wood lath; in the postwar houses west of Western the framing is straighter and studs are easier to find. With 75.7% detached houses, the wall is your choice, not a building's, and the basement is usually an option for a game-day room.
Beverly's walls change with the street grid. The Ridge Historic District holds more than 3,000 buildings, mostly from 1870 to 1930, and its Longwood Drive and Seeley Avenue blocks are city landmarks. Expect plaster on wood lath, picture rails and oak casing; Pavlo protects the trim and plans an hour and a half for test holes and slow drilling. South of 99th Street and west of Western, much of the land stayed open prairie into the 1940s and 1950s, so the houses there are brick Georgians, Cape Cods and early ranches with straighter framing and a living-room fireplace. Those walls go faster, and the real question is height over the mantel; our height tool settles it before the visit. Send your cross streets when you book, so Pavlo packs anchors for the right wall.

Inside a house on Longwood Drive, where the TV hangs is your call. The outside is different: alterations to a designated Chicago Landmark are reviewed by the Commission on Chicago Landmarks, so a screen or dish visible from the street on a landmark block may need the city's sign-off first. We usually steer porch TVs to the back of the house and to an outdoor model rated for Chicago winters, or we take the set down every October.
Beverly has few apartment buildings, and most sit along the Rock Island tracks near the 103rd Street station. For renters there we hide cables in paintable raceway ($39) rather than open old plaster. The TV's power cord never goes inside the wall or into that raceway: it plugs into a nearby outlet, or an electrician adds one.

The gas logs passed the 20-minute burn test; anchors went into solid brick faces with dust collection, and nobody sanded the old paint.

Every anchor went into the solid web of the hollow block, never a mortar joint, and the HDMI runs to the console in raceway.
