Hatch Street mill house, Lakeside Mills
The pine boards hid every stud, so Danylo found them through two small holes behind the plate and fished the HDMI down that bay.

Burlington grew around its hosiery and cotton mills, and it shows in the frame houses on Hatch Street, the brick mills turned into apartments and the foursquares along West Davis. We mount TVs in all of them and in the newer homes by Lake Mackintosh, often the same day at a flat price.
TV mounting in Burlington is flat-rate: $119 up to 60", $129 for 61–85" and from $179 for 86" and larger, plus $40 for each additional TV. Mounts from $39, cables hidden in a raceway for $39 or inside the wall for $69. No travel fee and no surcharge for brick, stone or plaster.
Mill-era houses have plaster or plank walls on old framing. We find the framing and mount into it. Studs behind plaster.
Brick ranches often have a fireplace wall; we anchor into solid brick, never the mortar. Brick vs. stone veneer.
Students get studs only and a removable raceway ($39), with holes patched at move-out. Mounting in an apartment.
Drywall on wood studs: lag bolts into two studs and cables inside the wall ($69). Drywall guide, what TV mounting costs.
27,762 homes and about 59,610 residents. The age and type of a home decide what is behind the drywall, so we check this before we quote.
54% owner-occupied · 46% rented
U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020–2024 5-year estimates: year built, units in structure, tenure.
With 27.5% of homes built before 1960, many Burlington TV walls are plaster, plank or painted brick, and in pre-1978 houses we drill only the anchor and cable holes, with a dust shroud. Renters live in 46.2% of homes, so removable raceway and move-out patching come up often. Utility gas heats 50.1% of homes and plenty of fireplaces run gas logs, so each one gets our 20-minute heat test before the bracket goes up.
The Lakeside Mills Historic District is a compact cluster of about 20 buildings from the 1890s: a brick mill and frame houses along Lakeside Avenue, Kent Avenue and Hatch Street. Rooms there are small and seating sits close, so we usually suggest a 50- or 55-inch screen on a tilting mount ($49). Board and plaster walls hide the framing, so we confirm each stud with a test hole behind the plate (best mounts for plaster).
Across town, old mill buildings are becoming apartments. May Hosiery downtown already holds 67 units, and the 1906 Aurora Cotton Mills building was slated for about 90 more. In those lofts the brick is the feature wall. We anchor into the brick faces, never the joints, get the management office's written okay first and run HDMI in a slim raceway so the old brick stays clean.

Beverly Hills is a planned subdivision listed on the National Register in 2009, with 108 contributing buildings, and the streets around West Davis, West Front and Fountain Place hold early-1900s foursquares and bungalows. Here the fireplace usually decides where the TV goes. Before we mark a single hole, the fireplace runs at full output for 20 minutes and we read the surface where the bottom of the screen will sit; if it is too hot, the TV moves up on a tilt or onto the side wall. Painted brick gets drilled, never sanded, and stone veneer around a firebox is treated as trim, not structure, so the bracket reaches the brick or framing behind it. The TV's power cord never goes inside the wall; hidden power means a listed in-wall power kit. See our fireplace TV service.
A few jobs from the last months — the kind of walls and setups we see here most.

Management allowed anchors in the brick faces only, so Danylo kept clear of every mortar joint and painted the slim raceway to match the trim.

The 20-minute burn read hot at the mantel line, so Danylo raised the TV six inches on a tilting mount until it passed.

One price list for Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Chapel Hill and out to Pinehurst and Fayetteville — the wall type does not change the price, and neither does the drive. Oakwood plaster, stacked-stone fireplaces and downtown concrete are billed exactly like drywall.
