The Woodway, 1975 high-rise
The drywall stood almost an inch proud of the concrete wall, so Taras ran longer sleeve anchors into it with spacers behind the plate.

Around the Galleria, home usually means a unit in a tower, anywhere from a 1975 high-rise on Woodway to a condo finished last decade on Post Oak, with Briar Hollow and Tanglewood streets behind. We mount TVs here same-day or next-day at a flat price and clear the building's paperwork first.
TV mounting in Galleria is flat-rate: $119 up to 60", $129 for 61–85" and from $179 for 86" and larger, plus $40 for each additional TV. Mounts from $39, cables hidden in a raceway for $39 or inside the wall for $69. No travel fee and no surcharge for brick or stone.
Condo towers along Post Oak and San Felipe have poured-concrete columns and exterior walls with steel-stud partitions between units. On concrete we drill with a hammer drill and use concrete sleeve anchors; on steel studs, snap-toggles across two studs. We check for post-tension cables before drilling any slab-adjacent wall. Concrete walls.
Tanglewood and Briargrove mix 1950s ranch houses with new two-story builds on the same lots. The ranch houses have wood studs and drywall — sometimes paneling over old plaster — and the new builds have tall family rooms where the TV goes over a gas fireplace. Two studs and lag bolts cover both.
Uptown buildings almost always want a certificate of insurance naming the association, a reserved service elevator and work between set hours. We send the COI as soon as you book, reserve the elevator ourselves and protect hallway floors on the way in. Nobody at the front desk has to call you.
Many Galleria apartments don't allow opening the wall. A paintable raceway ($39) hides the cables without cutting drywall and comes off cleanly at move-out. In owned condos we run cables inside the wall with a power kit ($69) when the partition is hollow. Renter-friendly cable hiding.
15,768 homes and about 22,877 residents. The age and type of a home decide what is behind the drywall, so we check this before we quote.

With 69.4% of homes in buildings of 20 or more units and a median year built of 1999, most TVs here hang on tower walls: concrete, steel studs, or drywall furred over concrete. Two in three households rent (66.5%), so we plan for lease rules, with few holes, a soundbar carried on the TV mount and cable runs that undo cleanly. The detached houses, mostly in Tanglewood and Briargrove, get classic wood-stud work.
Uptown's residential towers went up in waves, and the year your building opened tells us a lot before we arrive. The Woodway at Woodway and Post Oak dates from 1975, Cesar Pelli's twin 40-story Four Leaf Towers came next, The Tanglewood mid-rise opened around 2001, and The Astoria, 28 stories at 1409 Post Oak, was finished in 2015. In the older high-rises we often meet drywall furred out over concrete, so the anchor has to cross a gap before it grips. Newer towers usually put the TV on a steel-stud wall between units, with a concrete column a few feet away. Briar Hollow buildings toward River Oaks follow the same pattern. When you request a visit, add your building name and one photo of the wall, and Taras will pack the right hardware.

In the suburbs most fireplaces under our TVs burn gas logs, but in Galleria and Uptown condos the fireplace is more often electric: a linear insert in a drywall chase, or a wall-hung unit under the TV spot. Many inserts push warm air out of a vent along the top edge, where the screen wants to hang. Each of these jobs starts with the heater on high for 20 minutes and a surface reading at the planned height. When the spot reads too warm, we raise the screen, add tilt or move it beside the chase. The TV's power cord never runs inside the chase or wall; a listed in-wall power kit carries power behind the drywall instead. A 65- or 75-inch screen is $129; see our fireplace TV service and the electric fireplace guide.

The insert's top vent blew warm air up the chase, so after 20 minutes on high Taras lifted the mount four inches and angled it down.

The lease allowed one set of holes. Taras used snap-toggles across two steel studs and hung the soundbar from the TV arm, so it swings with the screen.
