Lakefront homes, screened porches and brick two-stories

Lakefront homes on Atascocita Shores and Lakeshore have big back walls of windows facing the water and screened porches or covered decks. Outdoor TVs there need outdoor-rated screens, stainless hardware and a sealed cable entry — the humidity off the lake is relentless. Outdoor TVs.

Inland subdivisions like Eagle Springs and Atascocita Forest are drywall on wood studs with tall family rooms. Two studs and lag bolts, cables inside the wall ($69) and a comfortable height cover almost every job. Drywall mounting.

Glare from the lake

A wall of windows facing Lake Houston means afternoon glare on any screen across from it. We plan the TV on a side wall when possible, or use a tilting or full-motion mount ($69) to angle it out of the reflection.

Game day in the game room

Big-screen game rooms are standard here. Up to 85 inches is $129; 86 inches and up start at $179 with two technicians. Mounts for big TVs.

What this means for your TV wall

With 38.4% of Atascocita homes built in 2010 or later and most of the rest from the 2000s, the walls we open are usually wood studs with clean, insulated bays, so in-wall runs go quickly. Gas is the main heat in 64.8% of homes, which is why so many family rooms center on a gas-log fireplace with a builder's outlet set high. With 82.5% owner-occupied, most customers choose wiring inside the wall over raceway.

Shores, Walden, Eagle Springs, The Groves: what is behind the wall

Building in Atascocita began in the 1970s, and by the 1990s it counted fifteen neighborhoods, so the wall depends on the street. In Atascocita Shores and older parts of Walden on Lake Houston, 1980s family rooms often hide a fire block halfway up the stud bay, and brick fireplaces get anchors in solid brick, never in mortar. Eagle Springs, built out around 2001, is the easy case: open bays, cast-stone gas-log fireplaces and builder outlets set very high. In The Groves and the newest corners of Fall Creek, the usual snag is a media niche sized for a TV two generations smaller than the one in the box. We mount just below it and keep the niche for the cable box. Neighbors in Kingwood and Humble see a similar mix. Either way, the flat price is set before drilling.

Gas logs, pull-down mounts and the Beryl lesson

Most fireplaces we mount over here burn gas logs, so every fireplace TV starts with a 20-minute burn at full output and a surface reading where the screen will hang. If that spot reads too hot in a tall Eagle Springs or Walden family room, the usual answer is a manual pull-down mount that parks high while the logs are lit and drops to eye level for a movie. Yurii has set up about 20 of our 40+ pull-downs; assembly and tuning are $99, mount not included. Hurricane Beryl toppled trees onto Atascocita homes in July 2024 and cut power for days, so we now ask about surge protection and leave room behind the TV for a battery backup. The TV power cord never goes inside the wall: in-wall runs use a listed power kit.

A few jobs from the last months — the kind of walls and setups we see here most.

Eagle Springs two-story

  • 75-inch
  • cast stone over a gas-log fireplace
  • tilting

The 20-minute burn ran warm at the builder's outlet, so Yurii hung the TV 12 inches lower and tilted it toward the sofa.

Walden on Lake Houston ranch

  • 65-inch
  • drywall on wood studs
  • full-motion

A fire block sat mid-bay; Yurii drilled through it from a small access hole and powered the TV with a listed in-wall kit.

Atascocita Forest covered patio

  • 55-inch outdoor
  • brick veneer
  • full-motion

The patio was too shallow for a 4-foot setback, so the arm folds the TV flat against the brick.

On-site notes from Atascocita jobs

  • Boathouse electrical is often on a separate circuit — we check the outlet is GFCI before hooking up.
  • FM 1960 traffic around school hours is heavy; late morning slots are easiest.
  • Several subdivisions are gated — send the gate code with your booking.

TV mounting in Atascocita, TX: common questions

Can you mount a TV in my boathouse or on the dock deck?
Yes, under a solid roof with an outdoor-rated TV and a GFCI outlet.
My TV wall faces the lake windows — what about glare?
We suggest a side wall or a tilting or full-motion mount to angle out of the reflection.
How much does TV mounting cost in Atascocita?
$119 up to 60 inches, $129 up to 85 inches, no travel fee.
How soon can you come?
Usually the same day or the next, seven days a week from 8am to 8pm.
Does my HOA need to approve a patio TV?
Inside the house it is your call. For a patio or pergola TV, check your deed restrictions first: subdivisions such as Atascocita Forest have their own HOA, and exterior changes may need its sign-off. Send the approval with your booking.
The builder put my TV outlet way above the fireplace. Do I have to use it?
No. In two-story family rooms about 1 in 3 of our fireplace customers end up with the TV 10 to 16 inches below it. We test the heat, set the height with you and hide the cables. Our fireplace guide covers the trade-offs.
Can you get my TVs ready for hurricane season?
Yes. We plug the screen into surge protection, leave space for a battery backup, and before a named storm we can take a patio TV down and rehang it afterward. The season runs June 1 to November 30; request a visit early.
