lakefront house in Doral Isles
The owner wanted the screen to swing toward the lake view; we anchored through the furring into the block webs and ran a paintable raceway down to the outlet.

Doral grew up around a golf resort on former swampland and is now a young, mostly bilingual city of gated lake communities, townhome rows and new rentals around Downtown Doral. Mykhailo's crew drives these streets most weeks, so we arrive knowing whether your wall is block, steel or wood, and with the HOA paperwork already handled.
TV mounting in Doral is flat-rate: $119 up to 60", $129 for 61–85" and from $179 for 86" and larger, plus $40 for each additional TV. Mounts from $39, cables hidden in a raceway for $39 or inside the wall for $69. No travel fee and no surcharge for concrete block.
Doral Isles and Doral Estates are concrete-block (CBS) houses finished with drywall over furring strips. A stud finder happily lights up the 1x2 furring, and that is exactly the trap: furring is held to the block with a few nails and carries nothing. We drill through it into the block with a rotary hammer and set 3/8-inch sleeve anchors or Tapcons — two per side for a 65-inch screen, three for 75 inches and up.
Townhomes around Doral Park and Costa del Sol mix materials: party walls are block, interior partitions are wood studs at 16 inches or light-gauge steel. A magnet sweep settles it before anything is drilled — on wood we use 5/16-inch lag bolts into two studs, on steel we switch to 1/4-inch snap-toggles.
Downtown Doral condos are poured concrete with steel-stud interior walls. Exterior and demising walls are solid concrete — superb holding power, but the building wants to know before anyone drills. Interior partitions are 25-gauge steel, and a full-motion arm never goes on one without spreading the load across two studs. Metal studs, explained.
Real fireplaces are rare in Doral — what we usually find is an electric insert built into a media wall in the newer homes and condos. That is an easy neighbor for a TV: we still check the vent direction and the surface temperature above the insert, but it rarely comes close to what a gas unit puts out. Mounting above an electric fireplace covers the one vent check that matters.
Floating TV walls built from wood framing and drywall are a separate question. If the builder did not add blocking, we open a small access hole, find the framing and add a backer plate — a 75-inch screen should never hang on drywall and toggles alone.
Open living-and-kitchen layouts are the norm in Doral townhomes, and a full-motion arm lets the screen face the sofa at night and the kitchen island on a Sunday afternoon. An 85-inch panel on a 20-inch arm pulls hard on the top fasteners, so on block we use four sleeve anchors instead of two and on wood we span two studs with a steel plate.
Where the wall is a wood or steel partition, cables go inside it with a UL-listed power kit (in-wall concealment, $69). On block and concrete nothing goes inside — we run a paintable raceway ($39) that disappears once it matches the wall.
Downtown Doral owners tend toward clean walls and fixed mounts that sit about an inch off the surface. On poured concrete that is a short job: four holes with an SDS bit, sleeve anchors, level, done in under an hour. The part that takes planning is the building — certificate of insurance, service elevator, work hours — and we sort that out with the management office before the appointment.
Most Doral installs include a soundbar bracket under the TV ($69 with the install). On block the bar gets its own anchors rather than hanging from the TV mount, so it stays level when the arm moves. For surround setups in the larger Doral Isles homes we run speaker wire through the attic and drop it down the frame partitions where the construction allows.
28,755 homes and about 79,216 residents. The age and type of a home decide what is behind the drywall, so we check this before we quote.
46% owner-occupied · 54% rented
U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020–2024 5-year estimates: year built, units in structure, tenure.
Doral is one of the newest cities we serve: the median home here was built in 2006, and 39.5% of homes went up in 2010 or later. Newer construction usually means flatter walls, builder blocking in some media niches and fewer surprises behind the drywall. But 37.3% of homes sit in buildings of 20 or more units and 53.5% are rented, so many of our Doral jobs begin with an association or landlord approval and end with removable concealment rather than holes in a shared wall.
The resort opened in 1962, and Doral Estates in the early 1980s started the first wave of homes; most of what stands today is far newer. Here is what we usually find, community by community.
| Where you live | Typical TV wall | What we bring |
|---|---|---|
| Doral Estates and older Doral Park streets | concrete block behind furring | rotary hammer, sleeve anchors into the block webs |
| Doral Isles and Doral Glen (gated) | block outside, wood partitions inside | magnet sweep, lag bolts or masonry anchors |
| Doral Landings and The Islands at Doral | wood or steel partitions in townhomes and condos | toggles, in-wall power kit where allowed |
| Downtown Doral | steel studs in newer mid-rise rentals | low-profile mounts, removable raceway |

Most Doral homes have open living areas with tall windows, so glare is the first thing we look at: a tilting mount angled a few degrees down usually beats moving the sofa. Media niches in houses built after 2010 often hide wood blocking, and we check for it before choosing anchors. For the height, try our TV height calculator before we come.
Hiding wires is the most common add-on here. On interior framed walls we use a listed in-wall power kit ($69); on block we run a paintable raceway. If you want sound too, see our soundbar installation options, or browse other towns we cover across the Miami area, such as Miami Lakes next door.

The HOA asked for a copy of our insurance before the gate pass was issued; the cables went inside the wall with a listed power kit.

The landlord's letter allowed small holes only, so we used toggles on two stud flanges and a stick-on raceway that comes off cleanly at move-out.
