Mounting TVs on Hialeah's block homes and additions

Original houses are concrete block with plaster applied directly to it — no drywall, no furring. A stud finder reads nothing, a nail won't go in, and plastic anchors crumble. The right fastener is a sleeve anchor or Tapcon drilled with a rotary hammer, and it holds more than any stud ever could.

Additions and converted garages are where Hialeah gets tricky. Some are block, some are wood frame, and a few are frame on one wall and block on the next. We test each wall before we pick the anchor, because the one next to it can be completely different.

Older plaster can be thick and soft in spots. We cut clean holes through tape, vacuum as we go and fill any chip in the plaster before we leave.

Old wiring and where to put the outlet

Many older Hialeah homes have one outlet per wall, low on the baseboard, often on the wrong side of the room. We do not run extension cords behind the TV or through the wall — on block the clean solution is a raceway from the outlet up to the screen ($39). Hiding HDMI and power cables explains the options.

Several TVs in one visit

A lot of Hialeah households mount two or three TVs at once — living room, main bedroom, the efficiency in back. Every additional TV is $40 on top of the first, and the calculator prices the whole house in one go.

Soundbars and gaming setups

Soundbars on their own bracket under the TV ($69) and wall-mounted consoles are common requests. On block, the soundbar bracket gets its own two anchors so it never pulls on the TV mount.

Homes in Hialeah by the numbers

What this means for your TV wall

The median Hialeah home was built in 1975, and 36.4% of units went up between 1960 and 1979, the years the city grew from farmland into one of Florida's biggest. That is why almost every TV wall we drill here is concrete block. 27.3% of units sit in buildings of 20 or more, so a good share of visits are condo mid-rises with association rules, and 53.4% of homes are rented, which is why we keep most cable work removable instead of cutting into walls.

Hialeah area by area

The city began as part of the Curtiss and Bright ranch and dairy land, and West 49th Street grew from pasture into its main shopping corridor. What we meet on the wall follows that history.

Near Hialeah Park, older houses often have the thickest plaster; we tape and vacuum at the bit and fill any chip before leaving.

Planning a TV wall in a Hialeah home

Pick the wall first, then the outlet. Many block homes have a single low outlet, and a TV power cord never runs inside the wall on its own, so on block we use a paintable raceway ($39) and on a framed addition a listed in-wall power kit. Our guide to mounting on concrete shows the anchors, and the height tool helps you set the screen before we drill. Mounting two or three TVs in one visit is common here: living room, main bedroom, and the efficiency in back.

1960s block house near Palm Avenue

  • 55-inch
  • wood-frame addition beside block
  • tilting

The TV went over an electric insert in a framed addition. Mykhailo lagged into the addition's studs, measured the heater's air at the screen's bottom edge on high and raised the TV 4 inches.

rented duplex in West Hialeah

  • 65-inch
  • plaster on concrete block
  • full-motion

The landlord allowed no cutting and the only outlet was across the wall, so a painted raceway runs up the corner and under the TV and comes off at move-out with a few small holes to fill.

The association asked for our insurance certificate a day ahead. Sleeve anchors went into the web of the block, away from the mortar joints, and the soundbar got its own pair.

On-site notes from Hialeah jobs

  • Plaster directly on block is the default in Hialeah; a stud finder that shows 'studs' here is reading plaster thickness, not framing.
  • Converted garages often have a block wall on three sides and a framed wall where the door used to be — we check each one.
  • The crew speaks Spanish; you can book, confirm and ask questions in Spanish from start to finish.
  • Street parking can be tight on the smaller streets off Palm Avenue — let us know if there is a driveway we can use.

TV mounting in Hialeah, FL: common questions

How much does TV mounting cost in Hialeah?
$119 for a TV up to 60 inches, $129 for 61–85 inches, and $40 for each extra TV in the same visit. Block walls are not extra.
Do your installers speak Spanish?
Yes. You can book, text and talk with the crew in Spanish. The whole website is also available in Spanish.
My wall is plaster on block. What holds the TV?
Sleeve anchors or Tapcon screws set with a rotary hammer directly into the block. It is the strongest wall you can have for a TV.
Can you add an outlet behind the TV?
We do not do electrical work on block walls. We run a neat paintable raceway from your existing outlet to the TV instead.
Can you come the same day in Hialeah?
Most days, yes. Hialeah is a short drive for our Miami crews; book before noon for the best chance of a same-day slot.
I rent a duplex in Hialeah. Can I still mount a TV?
Yes. Most landlords here accept anchor holes in block when the cords go in a paintable raceway rather than inside the wall. At move-out we can take the TV down, pull the raceway and leave only a few small holes to patch. Ask your landlord first and send us their answer with the booking.
Does my Hialeah condo need a permit for a TV?
Mounting a TV is not permitted work, but the association still sets the rules: drill hours, elevator use and often a certificate of insurance. In Hialeah, a permit for a condo unit needs a notarized letter from the association, so in-wall wiring is the building's decision. We send our insurance certificate before the visit.
Can you move a TV from one room to another in the same visit?
Yes. We take down the old mount, fill the holes and hang the TV on its new wall. Removing an existing TV and mount is $49, and the new install is priced by screen size as usual.
