Sun City MacDonald Ranch single-story home
The reading at the niche floor ran warm, so the TV sits at the niche top, angled toward the recliner.

MacDonald Ranch climbs the McCullough Range foothills off Horizon Ridge Parkway, and below the gated estates lie Sunridge family streets, the guard-gated Foothills, the Canyons and the 55-plus homes of Sun City MacDonald Ranch. Vasyl takes our calls here, often the same day, and knows each one's niches, HOAs and fireplaces.
TV mounting in MacDonald Ranch is flat-rate: $119 up to 60", $129 for 61–85" and from $179 for 86" and larger, plus $40 for each additional TV. Mounts from $39, cables hidden in a raceway for $39 or inside the wall for $69. No travel fee and no surcharge for stucco or stone.
Modern hillside homes have few solid walls, and the ones they have are often a feature — stone, wood cladding, plaster. We find the framing behind cladding, anchor through stone into structure, and sometimes recommend a floor-to-ceiling pole or a lift cabinet where there's no wall at all.
Established MacDonald Ranch homes from the 1990s–2000s are stucco and wood frame with drywall, great rooms and gas fireplaces — two studs, lag bolts and cables inside the wall ($69).
Open living spaces call for 85 to 100-inch screens. Two technicians handle 86 inches and up ($179), on heavy-duty mounts, with cables inside the wall to a closet. Mounts for 85-inch TVs.
Infinity-pool terraces get outdoor-rated TVs under solid covers, weather-rated mounts and stainless hardware; glare off the pool is handled with tilt. Outdoor TVs.
16,951 homes and about 38,339 residents. The age and type of a home decide what is behind the drywall, so we check this before we quote.

U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020–2024 5-year estimates: year built, units in structure, tenure. Census figures for ZIP Code 89012 — there is no separate Census boundary for MacDonald Ranch.
Here 42.6% of homes were built between 1980 and 1999, so most living rooms are stucco over wood studs, with a great room and a builder niche sized for that era's screens. With 78.0% of homes heated mainly by utility gas, the fireplace below the niche is nearly always gas, so every fireplace job starts with a heat reading. A 38.3% renter share means many tenants ask for a raceway that comes off cleanly.
MacDonald Ranch is not one HOA. The Canyons alone splits between Blackrock (139 units), Midnight Ridge (115) and the Canyons Community Association (115), and Sunridge, The Foothills and Sun City MacDonald Ranch have rules of their own. Nevada law lets an owner alter a unit's interior as long as structure and mechanical systems stay intact, so an indoor TV rarely needs a form; a patio screen that changes the back of the house may need association approval. Sun City homes bring single-story great rooms and gas-fireplace niches. Sunridge has two-story family rooms where a fire block often sits partway down the cable path. In The Foothills, stone surrounds are veneer, so Vasyl drives lags through it into the studs behind. That gate is guarded: send entry details, and know the HOA may not charge a fee to let us in.

Sun City MacDonald Ranch is where we meet some of the smallest fireplace niches in Henderson. Many 1990s niches take a 55-inch and nothing larger, so Vasyl measures width, height and depth before you order a new screen. Already own a 65-inch? It goes on the flat wall above, and the niche holds the cable box and a soundbar. Every fireplace TV job starts with the fireplace running and a surface reading above the firebox; across the valley, about 1 in 4 readings moves the TV a few inches higher or onto a tilting mount ($49). Recliner owners usually want it lower; we go as low as the reading allows. In 55-plus homes, clearer dialogue is the usual reason for a bar, and adding one ($69) takes about 30 minutes more. Settle the height first with our height tool.

A fire block sat between the openings; one extra small hole got the in-wall power kit through, then we re-textured.

Studs sat off-center to the window, so we offset the plate and the arm now reaches the kitchen island.
