Katy takes its name from the MKT railroad and grew on rice farming; its 1944 concrete rice driers still stand as landmarks. Most of our calls come from 1990s and 2000s two-stories in Cinco Ranch, Grand Lakes and Seven Meadows. Taras's Energy Corridor crew is a short I-10 drive away, so same-day visits are routine.
TV mounting in Katy is flat-rate: $119 up to 60", $129 for 61–85" and from $179 for 86" and larger, plus $40 for each additional TV. Mounts from $39, cables hidden in a raceway for $39 or inside the wall for $69. No travel fee and no surcharge for brick or stone.
Cinco Ranch and Grand Lakes homes are brick-and-stone outside, drywall on wood studs inside, with vaulted family rooms and cast-stone fireplaces. We check the heat above the firebox and the blocking behind the TV location; a pull-down mount ($99) is the favorite fix for a high mantel. TVs over fireplaces.
Elyson, Cross Creek Ranch and Cane Island are newer builds with open family rooms, built-in TV niches and low-voltage boxes that don't always end up where the furniture goes. We mount into two studs and add a new in-wall run ($69) where the TV actually belongs.
A typical Katy visit is three or four TVs: family room, game room, primary bedroom and a kid's room. Each additional TV is $40; 86 inches and up start at $179 with two technicians. Same-day installs.
Almost every Katy backyard has a covered patio. Outdoor-rated TVs, stainless hardware and sealed cable entries survive the humidity and the summer storms. Outdoor TVs.
26,031 homes and about 71,906 residents. The age and type of a home decide what is behind the drywall, so we check this before we quote.

U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020–2024 5-year estimates: year built, units in structure, tenure. Census figures for ZIP Code 77450 — there is no separate Census boundary for Katy.
A median year built of 1994, with 43.5% of homes from 1980–99, means most Katy walls are drywall on wood studs, often with the builder's TV outlet set high above the mantel. These slabs sit on clay that shrinks in dry summers, so hairline cracks over a fireplace are common; we lag into studs, never drywall alone. And 73.8% of homes are detached houses, so family rooms, game rooms and patios outnumber apartment walls.
The City of Katy itself had 21,894 residents in 2020, a fraction of the Greater Katy area most people mean. That line matters for paperwork. Old Town Katy homes inside city limits answer to the city's Permit and Building Services, which enforces the 2021 International codes and the 2023 NEC. Cinco Ranch, about 8,092 acres, is split into separate HOAs on either side of Katy-Gaston Road, each with its own rules. Cross Creek Ranch borders Katy but is technically in Fulshear and zoned to Lamar CISD. For a TV on the wall, little changes: we anchor into studs or masonry, and the power cord never travels inside the wall. Hidden cables mean a listed in-wall power kit ($69); our guide to hiding wires in the wall shows the parts we use.

Katy's 1990s and 2000s two-stories put the family room under an 18- to 20-foot ceiling and the game room over the garage, and both shape the job. In the tall room, about 1 in 3 of our fireplace customers end up with the TV 10 to 16 inches below the builder's outlet or niche; we run a 20-minute burn at full output first, then check the height with our TV height tool. If the mantel reads too hot, the TV moves beside the fireplace or onto a pull-down mount ($99 to assemble). Upstairs, game rooms are where Katy families go big: two of our 14 Houston video walls hang in Katy game rooms, and a 2x2 video wall takes two technicians 6.5 to 7.5 hours. From June to September we book attic cable runs for the morning, before the heat builds.

The console cabinet stands across the room, so the HDMI runs through the attic; power uses a listed in-wall kit.

Several bricks at the first height were mortar patches, so the anchors went into sound brick one row higher.

One price list for all of Greater Houston — the wall type does not change the price, and neither does the drive. Brick fireplaces, lath and plaster and Galleria high-rises are billed exactly like drywall.

“Brick fireplace and a 75" TV — Taras found solid brick instead of the mortar and angled the screen down so nobody cranes their neck. Cables hidden in the side wall. Great job, exactly the quoted price.”
