TV Mounting in Cary, NC

Cary was built one planned community at a time: Kildaire Farms in the 1970s, lake and golf PUDs next, then two-story houses spreading west toward Chatham County. Each era left a different wall behind the TV, and our west Cary crew can usually come the same day.

TV mounting in Cary is flat-rate: $119 up to 60", $129 for 61–85" and from $179 for 86" and larger, plus $40 for each additional TV. Mounts from $39, cables hidden in a raceway for $39 or inside the wall for $69. No travel fee and no surcharge for brick, stone or plaster.

Two-story stone fireplaces and FROG bonus rooms

Stacked-stone fireplaces open to the second floor are the classic Cary family room. We check the heat above the firebox, anchor through the stone into the framing behind it and use a pull-down mount ($99) when the natural spot is fourteen feet up. Pull-down mounts.

FROG bonus rooms over the garage have sloped ceilings and knee walls. We find the studs on the one full-height wall, keep the screen clear of the slope and run the cables through the knee-wall space ($69). Hiding cables in the wall.

HOA rules and what they cover

Cary runs on HOAs, and architectural review covers anything visible from the street — a patio TV, a dish, conduit on the siding. Indoor mounting never needs approval. Send us your community's rules and we plan the outdoor TV to stay out of sight lines, with photos and product specs for the application.

What this means for your TV wall

Half of Cary's housing is younger than 1999, the median year built, and most of the rest dates from the PUD decades of the 1980s and 1990s. That means wood studs and drywall, brick fireplaces in the older half and stacked stone in the newer. Townhomes are 13.9% of homes, so a fire-rated shared wall is a regular find. Gas heats 55.1% of homes; about 9 in 10 Cary fireplaces we mount over burn it.

Reading a Cary wall by the decade it was planned

After Research Triangle Park arrived in 1959, Cary grew by whole communities: PUD zoning came in 1971, Kildaire Farms was the state's first PUD, and 22 more followed by 1992. So the neighborhood name predicts the wall.

In Kildaire Farms, Lochmere and MacGregor Downs we meet 1970s and 1980s brick with raised hearths: anchors go into the brick faces and a tilting mount brings the picture down. Preston and Cary Park mean stacked stone in two-story rooms, where the heat test comes first. In Amberly and Green Level add FROG bonus rooms and drywall-faced chases. The bungalows near downtown, ca. 1890–1945, get a plaster test opening before any recessed box.

Two rules hold everywhere: stacked stone is a veneer, not structure, and a TV power cord never travels inside the wall. Hidden power goes through a listed in-wall kit.

Getting a same-day Cary visit right

Most Cary requests book for the same day or the following morning. Three details make the visit shorter:

  1. The wall and the floor in front of it. At a fireplace, include the mantel and outlet. In about 3 in 5 two-story fireplace walls the builder set the box near 14 feet up, so we plan the height from your seat, after a 20-minute burn at full output and a heat reading. See fireplace TVs.
  2. Where the cables should end. About 4 in 5 of our Cary concealment jobs run inside drywall; FROG runs cross the knee-wall attic, booked mornings in summer.
  3. Every room on the list. About 1 in 3 Cary visits include the bonus room, and a 75-inch or larger screen brings a second technician.

Send them through the request form and Tymofii's crew confirms a time and flat price first.

Amberly two-story great room

  • 85-inch
  • stacked stone veneer over wood framing
  • tilting

The builder's box sat about 14 feet up. Tymofii set the screen a foot lower, bolted through the veneer into framing and recessed an in-wall power kit.

Kildaire Farms 1970s colonial

  • 65-inch
  • brick fireplace with raised hearth
  • tilting

The raised hearth put the natural spot high, so a tilting mount angles the picture down. Every anchor went into brick faces, never mortar.

Green Level bonus room

  • 75-inch
  • drywall on wood studs, gable wall
  • fixed

The console sits across the room, so cables crossed the knee-wall attic from its access door on an early July morning, before the heat built.

TV mounting in Cary, NC: common questions

Can you mount a TV over a two-story stone fireplace in Cary?
Yes — it is the most common job we do here. We check the heat above the firebox, find solid anchoring in the stone or the studs behind it, and if the natural spot is too high we suggest a pull-down mount so the screen comes down to eye level.
Do I need HOA approval to mount a TV in Cary?
Not for anything inside. Patio, porch and deck TVs visible from the street can need architectural review in Preston, Lochmere and most newer communities — send us the rules and we mount to them, with photos and specs for the application.
Is Cary part of your Raleigh service area?
Yes. Cary, Apex, Morrisville and Holly Springs are covered by the same crews as Raleigh and Durham, on the same price list and with no travel fee.
How much does TV mounting cost in Cary?
$119 up to 60 inches, $129 up to 85 inches, $99 for a pull-down mount over a fireplace and $69 to hide the cables inside the wall.
How soon can you come to Cary?
Usually the same day or the next, seven days a week — our west Cary crew is minutes away.
Can you mount on my townhome's shared wall?
We never cut into a fire-rated party wall. Most owners pick an interior wall instead; if the shared one is the only spot, the mount goes into the studs on your side and cables run in paintable raceway ($39).
Does a TV mount need a Cary permit?
Not for the mount or the low-voltage cables. A new outlet behind the TV is a licensed electrician's job and goes through the Town's Inspections & Permits office; our in-wall power kits plug into the outlet you already have.
My Lochmere room faces the lake. What about glare?
We check the windows and the water before choosing a spot. Often the wall beside the windows works better than the one facing them, or a tilting mount ($49) angles the screen out of the reflection.

★★★★★

“Two-story family room in Preston and the TV had to go over the stone fireplace. Tymofii suggested a pull-down mount so we are not staring at the ceiling, found solid anchoring and hid every wire.”
