TV Mounting in Glendale, CA

Glendale gives us two very different kinds of wall: plaster in the Tudor and Spanish revival homes of Rossmoyne and the other historic districts, and concrete in the new towers along Brand Boulevard. Kostiantyn, who runs our Valley crew, handles both, and most morning requests get a same-day slot.

TV mounting in Glendale is flat-rate: $119 up to 60", $129 for 61–85" and from $179 for 86" and larger, plus $40 for each additional TV. Mounts from $39, cables hidden in a raceway for $39 or inside the wall for $69. No travel fee and no surcharge for plaster or brick.

Spanish revivals, hillside homes and downtown towers

Rossmoyne and Kenneth Village are 1920s–30s Spanish revival and Tudor houses with lath and plaster. Plaster adds up to an inch before the stud, so our lag bolts are longer, and every stud is confirmed with a thin test hole behind where the mount will hide. Mounts for plaster walls.

Downtown towers near Brand Boulevard are concrete with steel-stud partitions. A big TV on steel studs gets toggles across two studs plus a backer plate; on concrete we set sleeve anchors. Building management gets our certificate of insurance before the visit.

85 and 98-inch TVs

A 98-inch panel is 86 inches wide and up to 150 pounds. It needs a heavy-duty mount with VESA 800×600, two technicians and a wall that holds — two studs or solid masonry. Installation from $179, heavy-duty mounts from $59. Mounts for 85-inch TVs.

Hillside homes and views

Homes in Chevy Chase Canyon and the Verdugo foothills are built on slopes with big windows toward the valley. We keep the TV off the window wall, tilt a few degrees against glare, and on post-and-beam houses find the posts rather than trusting thin infill walls.

What this means for your TV wall

With 41.7% of Glendale homes built before 1960, much of our drilling here goes through lath and plaster or into old brick rather than modern drywall. And 64.8% of households rent, many of them in the 26.1% of homes in buildings of 20 or more units, so the first question is often what the lease or the association allows. That is why raceways outnumber in-wall runs here, and why we ask about building rules first.

Historic districts: the inside is yours, the street side is not

Glendale has five designated historic districts (Rossmoyne, Royal Boulevard, Brockmont Park, Cottage Grove and Ard Eevin Highlands), and Rossmoyne alone holds 503 homes developed from 1923 on. The city's Historic Preservation Commission reviews alterations visible from the street, so a living-room TV needs no hearing, but a bracket or conduit on a street-facing wall may. We put patio screens at the back of the house and keep outside cable out of view.

Kostiantyn locates studs through the plaster with a thin bit and keeps every opening small. In a house built before 1978, if a cut would disturb more painted surface than a minor repair allows, we switch to a raceway rather than guess. Over a plastered chimney he finds the brick behind the skim coat; see our fireplace TV service and finding studs behind lath.

Brand Boulevard towers and fire-rated walls

Downtown Glendale keeps growing upward: Lucia Park on Maryland Avenue is a 24-story, 294-unit tower, and 409 N. Brand added 219 apartments. These buildings mean concrete, steel-stud partitions, a management office and, often, a fire-rated wall to the corridor. We email the certificate of insurance ahead, ask which walls are off-limits, and when the TV wall is rated, no box goes through it. A slim raceway, from $39, carries the HDMI and low-voltage lines along the surface. The TV's power cord never goes inside the wall or into a raceway with those cables; a hidden cord needs a listed in-wall power kit or an outlet added by an electrician. Where the association must approve the plan, California law requires its answer in writing, so we book once you hold it. Our no-cut wire guide shows the options.

TV mounting in Glendale, CA: common questions

Do you mount 98-inch TVs in Glendale?
Yes, with two technicians and a heavy-duty mount, from $179.
Can you mount on plaster in a Rossmoyne house?
Yes. We find the studs behind the lath and drill without the hammer to avoid cracking.
How much does TV mounting cost in Glendale?
$119 up to 60 inches, $129 up to 85 inches, no travel fee.
Will the proposed Verdugo Woodlands historic district change my TV plans?
Not for the TV itself. The proposed overlay west of Canada Boulevard would cover 788 properties, and Glendale's district reviews focus on exterior changes. Indoor mounts and in-wall runs stay a private matter; plan any patio TV with that review in mind.
I rent downtown. Can you mount without opening the wall?
Yes. We drill only the mount's own holes and run the cables in a slim surface raceway painted to the wall. Forward the manager's email or lease clause with your request; morning requests often get a same-day slot.
Can a TV go over the gas fireplace in my Glendale house?
Usually. Most Glendale homes heat with gas, and many fireplaces here burn gas logs. Kostiantyn runs the fire and measures the wall before choosing a height; if it reads too warm, the TV goes higher on a tilting mount, from $49.
