TV Mounting in University City, NC

University City is Charlotte's far northeast corner: UNC Charlotte, University Research Park and the Blue Line stations at J.W. Clay and UNC Charlotte–Main, with Highland Creek's long cul-de-sacs to the north. Most homes here are under twenty-five years old, so walls are predictable — and Ihor's University-area crew is based close by for same-day visits.

TV mounting in University City is flat-rate: $119 up to 60", $129 for 61–85" and from $179 for 86" and larger, plus $40 for each additional TV. Mounts from $39, cables hidden in a raceway for $39 or inside the wall for $69. No travel fee and no surcharge for stone or plaster.

Apartments near campus and 1990s–2000s subdivisions

Apartments and townhomes are wood framing with thin drywall and lots of shared walls. We mount into studs only, use a raceway you can remove ($39) and patch the holes at move-out if you book a dismount. Renter-friendly cables.

Highland Creek and Mallard Creek homes have gas fireplaces with tile or stone surrounds and bonus rooms. We check the heat above the firebox and the viewing height before choosing the mount. TVs over fireplaces.

Student and short-lease options

Not every lease allows holes. When yours doesn't, we can set up a floor stand or a no-drill option, and when it does, a small fixed mount ($39) is the cheapest way to get the TV off the dresser. No-drill options.

Upgrading to a bigger TV

Families who bought a house here in 2005 are now swapping a 50-inch for a 75. A new TV often needs a new mount; we take down the old one ($49) and reuse the studs when they line up. Best mounts for apartments.

What this means for your TV wall

This is one of the youngest parts of Charlotte: the median home was built in 2004, and 31.1% went up after 2010. That means wood studs, standard drywall and outlets where a builder expected a TV. The flip side is that 62% of homes sit in buildings of five or more units and 71.7% are rented, so for most of our visits here the lease, not the wall, decides whether cables go inside the wall or into a removable raceway.

Station apartments, campus rentals and Highland Creek: what you get where

The Blue Line Extension opened in March 2018 — 9.3 miles and 11 new stations from Center City to campus — and the apartments followed: more than 5,000 were built, under way or planned along the line. That is why so many University City TV walls we see are less than ten years old. Here is what each kind of home usually hands us:

Many of our customers work at the research park — Wells Fargo, TIAA and Duke Energy offices — and want the job done before or after shifts. Our 8am–8pm hours, seven days a week, fit that. Renters should read mounting a TV in an apartment before talking to the landlord.

Planning the TV wall in a University City home

In the apartments, rooms are long and narrow with a balcony door on one wall, so check where the outlet and the cable jack are before you pick a spot; a fixed mount ($39) is enough when the sofa faces the wall straight on. If the lease rules out cutting drywall, we hide the cords in paintable raceway ($39) that comes off cleanly at move-out.

In Highland Creek and Mallard Creek, the big question is the fireplace and the bonus room over the garage. We heat-test gas logs before choosing a height, and in bonus rooms we look for the gable wall first. Use our height calculator to see where the screen center should land, or ask for cable concealment inside the wall.

Apartment near J.W. Clay station

  • 65-inch
  • wood studs + drywall
  • full-motion

The only stud-backed spot was beside the balcony door, so a full-motion arm let the TV swing toward the sofa. The lease allowed holes but no cutting, so a slim raceway carried the HDMI down.

Two-story home in Highland Creek

  • 75-inch
  • stacked stone over a framed chase
  • tilting

We ran a 20-minute burn on the gas logs first and moved the TV 10 inches below the builder's high outlet box, with a listed in-wall power kit bringing the power down.

Townhome off Mallard Creek Road

The wall the owner picked was the shared one, so we mounted on the opposite exterior wall and kept every screw out of the neighbor's side.

On-site notes from University City jobs

  • Apartment complexes usually want the unit number and a gate code — add both when you book.
  • Highland Creek HOA only cares about the outside; indoor mounting needs no approval.
  • Move-in weekends around campus are busy — book a few days ahead in August.

TV mounting in University City, NC: common questions

I'm a renter near UNC Charlotte — can you mount my TV?
Usually yes with the landlord's okay. We use studs and a removable raceway, and a dismount at move-out includes patching the holes.
What if my lease doesn't allow any holes?
We can set up a floor stand or a no-drill solution instead, so the TV is still at the right height.
How much does TV mounting cost in University City?
$119 up to 60 inches and $129 up to 85 inches, mounts from $39. No travel fee.
Can you replace my old mount with one for a bigger TV?
Yes. We take down the old TV and mount, and install the new one — often in the same studs.
Do you work in Highland Creek?
Yes — Highland Creek, Mallard Creek and the whole University area are on the same flat rates.
I'm moving into an apartment near campus in August. How far ahead should I book?
Three or four days ahead in move-in weeks, when the University-area crew is booked solid. Outside those weeks same-day slots are usual. Send your unit number and gate code with the request so Ihor doesn't wait at the entrance.
Can you move my mount when I change apartments in University City?
Yes. We take the TV and mount down at the old unit, fill the screw holes, and hang it again in the new one — often on the same day if both places are nearby.
My Highland Creek house has the outlet box way above the mantel. Do I have to mount there?
No. In two-story family rooms we often set the TV lower so your neck is comfortable. We test the fireplace heat first, then use a listed in-wall power kit to bring power to the new height — the cord never runs loose inside the wall.
