Clayton gives us two kinds of wall: plaster in the older houses of the downtown historic district, and drywall in Flowers Plantation, Riverwood, Portofino and LionsGate, most of it framed after 2000. Yaroslav and our Garner crew handle both, often the same day, at a flat price agreed before the first hole.
TV mounting in Clayton is flat-rate: $119 up to 60", $129 for 61–85" and from $179 for 86" and larger, plus $40 for each additional TV. Mounts from $39, cables hidden in a raceway for $39 or inside the wall for $69. No travel fee and no surcharge for brick, stone or plaster.
Flowers Plantation and Riverwood homes are drywall on wood studs with a gas fireplace on the TV wall. We check the heat and use a tilting mount ($49). TVs over fireplaces.
Bonus rooms and bedrooms get lag bolts into two studs and cables inside the wall ($69). Hiding cables.
Living room, bonus room, bedrooms: multi-TV visits are the norm in Clayton. Each additional TV is $40. Drywall guide, 85-inch TVs.
Screened porches get outdoor-rated TVs with stainless hardware and a sealed cable entry for the humid summers. Outdoor TVs.
11,529 homes and about 29,320 residents. The age and type of a home decide what is behind the drywall, so we check this before we quote.

Clayton has one of the youngest housing stocks we serve: 36.7% of homes went up in 2010 or later and another 34.0% in the 2000s. For a TV wall that means drywall over wood framing, and in about 1 in 5 walls built since 2000 the studs sit 24 inches apart, so we pick a bracket that spans them. Only 4.4% predate 1960, mostly the downtown blocks, where older plaster calls for test holes first.
Clayton's National Register district, listed in 2010, takes in close to 300 homes and buildings between Mulberry, West Barnes, Mill, Lombard and Blanche streets. Listing does not stop an owner from modifying a house, so an indoor TV needs no sign-off. It does change our method: many of these walls are plaster, and many houses predate 1978, so we drill only anchor and cable holes with a dust shroud and never sand old paint.
Outside that grid, Flowers Plantation, Riverwood and McAlister Creek, and even the new 55+ East Village downtown, are built with drywall over wood studs. Glen Laurel, built around the Neuse Golf Course, mixes both eras. There the real decisions are screen height and where the cables run; try the height tool before we arrive, and we will mark the spot with you on the wall.

Most gas fireplaces we meet in Clayton sit in a drywall-faced chase with stone only around the firebox. Each gets a 20-minute burn at full output and a surface reading where the TV's bottom edge will sit; if it reads hot, the screen goes higher on a tilt or beside the fireplace. Stacked-stone veneer is a finish, not structure, so our anchors pass through it into the framing. Our fireplace service covers the whole visit.
The TV's power cord never runs inside the wall: hidden runs use a listed in-wall power kit fed from the existing outlet, and a new outlet is an electrician's job. A 65- to 85-inch screen is $129, and a soundbar adds $69 and 30 to 40 minutes on site. Garner is our base, so send a request and we can often be there today.

Pre-1978 paint, so anchor holes only, under a dust shroud; the test opening crumbled, so the cables went in paintable raceway.

The gable-wall studs sat 24 inches apart; a wide plate reached both, and a second technician helped lift the screen.

One price list for Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Chapel Hill and out to Pinehurst and Fayetteville — the wall type does not change the price, and neither does the drive. Oakwood plaster, stacked-stone fireplaces and downtown concrete are billed exactly like drywall.
