Old Northwood, 1925 house
The owner first wanted the cable outside along the chimney, which needs historic review. Marian kept it indoors: anchors in the brick face, raceway down the surround.

In West Palm Beach a TV goes on one of two very different walls: brick and plaster in the 1920s houses of Old Northwood, Grandview Heights and El Cid, and concrete or steel studs in the towers along Rosemary Avenue. Marian handles both, often same-day, at a flat price quoted first.
TV mounting in West Palm Beach is flat-rate: $119 up to 60", $129 for 61–85" and from $179 for 86" and larger, plus $40 for each additional TV. Mounts from $39, cables hidden in a raceway for $39 or inside the wall for $69. No travel fee and no surcharge for concrete block.
Historic homes in El Cid, Flamingo Park and Prospect Park are wood frame or hollow tile with plaster over lath. Stud finders give nonsense readings; we find studs by the lath nails with a magnet and use long lag bolts — plaster walls and mounts for plaster.
Northwood bungalows are smaller wood-frame houses, often remodeled — some drywall, some original plaster, sometimes both on one wall.
Downtown towers are concrete with steel studs; COI, elevator and building rules — condo mounting.
Many 1920s homes have an original fireplace. We check the brick and the heat, anchor into solid masonry or the framing above, and suggest a lower or pull-down solution when needed.
Condos facing the Intracoastal get strong morning light; we place the TV to avoid glare and use stainless hardware on balconies — outdoor TVs.
Northwood's bungalows have compact living rooms, so a slim fixed mount, a soundbar on its own bracket and a floating shelf replace a bulky console. Where the wall is original plaster, we route cables down a corner in a paintable raceway.
Rental units near Rosemary Square and the Brightline station get tamper-resistant hardware and removable cable management, with installs scheduled between tenants.
62,464 homes and about 122,290 residents. The age and type of a home decide what is behind the drywall, so we check this before we quote.

U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020–2024 5-year estimates: year built, units in structure, tenure.
The Census explains why no two visits here look alike. 20.6% of homes predate 1960, many on boom-era streets with plaster on wood lath or hollow clay tile, while 30.6% sit in buildings of 20 or more units, which means poured concrete and steel-stud partitions. Only 4.6% heat mainly with utility gas, second only to Boca Raton among the big cities we serve, so we bring a surface thermometer to every gas or wood fireplace wall.
Between 1920 and 1927 the city's population quadrupled, and much of that boom still stands. The National Register file for Old Northwood counts 435 buildings, most contributing ones from 1921 to 1926, walled in wood, stucco and brick, and several 1925 houses carry an exterior chimney. That chimney wall is usually where the TV wants to go. The brick face around the firebox takes anchors well, as long as they bite the brick and never a mortar joint; where El Cid plaster hides hollow clay tile, the anchor goes into the web of the tile. Nine of our visits here have included a fireplace, and every gas or wood one got a heat reading before we marked a hole. A high mantel may call for a pull-down mount ($99 to assemble). Check the screen's height with our height tool, then book a fireplace TV install.

Downtown is the other half of the city. 575 Rosemary rises 21 stories with 364 residences, Soleste Palm Station adds 321 rental units, and One West Palm tops out at 30 stories. Behind the drywall in these towers you meet poured concrete and steel studs, so Marian brings snap-toggles rated for metal studs plus a hammer drill. Send us the management office's email and we arrange the certificate of insurance and the service elevator before the visit. About half of our 25 concealment jobs here ended as raceway, where the wall was solid concrete or a fire-rated party wall. The TV's power cord never goes inside a wall: in-wall setups get a listed power kit or an electrician's outlet. A 65-inch, the region's most common size, is $129; request a same-day slot and add cable concealment to hide the HDMI.
A few jobs from the last months — the kind of walls and setups we see here most.

Pre-1978 painted plaster meant lead-safe drilling. The thick plaster would not seat a recessed box, so a low-voltage pass-through plate carries the HDMI.

The building required a certificate of insurance and a booked service elevator. Snap-toggles span two steel studs; a listed in-wall power kit feeds the TV.
