Rio Vista 1940s house

Fort Lauderdale mixes 1920s bungalows in Sailboat Bend, a historic district where exterior changes need city approval, with block canal houses from the postwar boom and downtown towers. Marian, our Broward technician, drives here every day, so a same-day visit at a flat price is usually one call away.
TV mounting in Fort Lauderdale is flat-rate: $119 up to 60", $129 for 61–85" and from $179 for 86" and larger, plus $40 for each additional TV. Mounts from $39, cables hidden in a raceway for $39 or inside the wall for $69. No travel fee and no surcharge for concrete block.
Victoria Park and Rio Vista historic homes mix wood framing with plaster interiors and block exteriors, sometimes with the original crown moldings. Stud finders struggle on plaster, so we locate studs by the lath nails with a magnet and use long lag bolts through the plaster into the framing.
Canal homes in the Las Olas Isles, Coral Ridge and Harbor Beach are mostly concrete block from the 1950s–80s, many rebuilt since. Exterior walls take sleeve anchors; newer framed interiors take lag bolts and in-wall cables.
Downtown and Flagler Village towers, plus Galt Ocean Mile are concrete with steel-stud partitions — snap-toggles on steel, concrete anchors on demising walls, and the usual building paperwork.
Salt and brackish canal water corrode plain steel fast. Anything outdoors or near an open slider gets stainless hardware, a sealed cable entry and, ideally, an outdoor-rated screen. Dock-side lanais are some of the most popular TV spots in the city — outdoor TVs in Miami and Broward.
Historic Victoria Park homes sometimes have original brick or coral-rock fireplaces. We drill brick at the mortar or the solid face, check the surface temperature with the fire lit, and suggest a pull-down or tilting mount if the height is too steep — TV over a fireplace.
Rental units around the beach and Las Olas get tamper-resistant screws, deposit-safe raceways and a height that works from both the bed and the sofa.
101,691 homes and about 185,604 residents. The age and type of a home decide what is behind the drywall, so we check this before we quote.

U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020–2024 5-year estimates: year built, units in structure, tenure.
Census figures put the median Fort Lauderdale home at 1973, and 41.4% of units went up between 1960 and 1979, so most TV walls here are concrete block under plaster or furred drywall, which decides both the anchor and the cable route. Another 37.6% of units are in buildings of 20 or more, where poured concrete, steel-stud partitions and the building's drilling hours shape the visit as much as the wall does. That is why we ask for a wall photo first.
Sailboat Bend is the largest of the city's three historic districts, with more than 550 buildings, many of them 1920s and 30s bungalows. Any alteration to the outside of a designated building needs a Certificate of Appropriateness from the Historic Preservation Board, so we plan every TV job there to stay indoors: no cable drilled through siding, no dish bracket on the facade. Inside, the walls are usually wood framing under plaster, which suits a listed in-wall power kit at $69; the TV's own cord never goes into the wall. Rio Vista, founded in the 1920s between the New River and the Intracoastal, adds Mediterranean Revival houses with gas fireplaces. There we run a test burn before choosing a height, and some of our fireplace installs end on a side wall instead. Parking near the river is tight.

On April 12, 2023, Fort Lauderdale took 22.5 inches of rain in one day, its wettest day on record, and that year ended at 113.61 inches. Many canal-home owners in the Las Olas Isles, Coral Ridge and Harbor Beach now ask us to keep everything off the floor. Our answer is a fixed or full-motion mount ($69) on the block wall, with the streaming box, power strip and HDMI hub behind the screen or on a floating shelf well above the baseboard. On block we set anchors in the web of each hollow unit, never in a mortar joint, and run HDMI in a paintable raceway while the power cord stays outside it. Booking is simple: send a wall photo and the TV size through the quote form, and Marian can often come the same afternoon.

An outside cable run would need a Certificate of Appropriateness, so Marian kept everything indoors with a listed in-wall power kit.

After the 2023 flood nothing stays near the floor: the streaming box went behind the screen, HDMI into a raceway.
