University Park fits 7,444 homes onto tree-lined streets around SMU, and on many blocks a 1930s cottage now stands beside a brand-new house. We mount TVs in both, arriving by the rear alley, heat-testing fireplaces before drilling and hiding cables. Same-day visits at a flat price are often open.
TV mounting in University Park is flat-rate: $119 up to 60", $129 for 61–85" and from $179 for 86" and larger, plus $40 for each additional TV. Mounts from $39, cables hidden in a raceway for $39 or inside the wall for $69. No travel fee and no surcharge for stone or brick.
Original homes have plaster or early drywall over wood studs. We confirm studs with test holes and drill without the hammer. New builds have engineered framing, blocking and often a pre-wired box; if the TV location changed with the furniture, a new in-wall run is $69.
Big screens are common in new family rooms: 85-inch at $129, 86 inches and up from $179 with two technicians. Mounts for 85-inch TVs.
Student houses and apartments need small, patchable holes and a removable raceway ($39). Before football season, the calendar fills — book a week ahead. Best mounts for apartments.
New homes have open stud bays and attic access, so cables go inside the wall to a media closet almost every time. Hiding wires in the wall.
7,444 homes and about 25,155 residents. The age and type of a home decide what is behind the drywall, so we check this before we quote.

U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020–2024 5-year estimates: year built, units in structure, tenure.
The Census numbers describe two cities on one map. 31.0% of homes were built before 1960, so plaster over lath, old paint and odd stud spacing are routine on older blocks. Another 17.9% date from 2010 or later, mostly rebuilt lots with engineered framing and stone fireplace surrounds. Utility gas heats 61.4% of homes, which is why so many living rooms put a gas-log fireplace right under the spot chosen for the TV, and why we heat-test first.
The city requires a construction permit for every new house and every full demolition, so a rebuild here moves on the builder's inspection calendar. The TV wall is easiest to get right during trim-out, before final paint. Bohdan marks the screen center from where the sofa will actually sit, checks that blocking landed behind it and lines up the low-voltage box; a few inches of drift is common once a furniture plan changes. A new outlet behind the screen is for your electrician, and the TV's own power cord never travels inside the wall, so we fit a listed in-wall power kit instead. Many rebuilt family rooms here take a 75- or 85-inch screen, and mount labor up to 85 inches is a flat $129. Check placement with our height tool and see how in-wall cable concealment works.

Snider Plaza, the village-style shopping street locals treat as a town square, was assembled by several owners with no single style, and the older houses around it show the same mix. Expect plaster on lath, uneven stud spacing and paint that may predate 1978. EPA's renovation rule exempts work disturbing six square feet or less of paint per room; our openings stay far below that, drilled with a vacuum at the bit. Brick fireboxes take sleeve anchors in solid brick, never in mortar joints. Over gas logs we burn 20 minutes at full flame and read the wall first; about 1 in 8 readings across the Metroplex send the TV beside the firebox or onto a pull-down mount, assembled for $99. Highland Park shares these walls; read our plaster stud guide or request a quote.

A 20-minute full burn read fine. The cast stone is veneer, so anchors went into the chase framing behind it.

Ready before fall term: the arm went into two studs, and the HDMI runs in paintable raceway to the outlet.
