Wilmette changes character across Green Bay and Ridge Roads: lakeward, Hemphill-era colonials and Tudors with plaster walls and wood-burning hearths; westward, 1950s ranches and new houses on teardown lots. Pavlo's North Side crew mounts TVs in both halves, often the same day, at a flat price you see before booking.
TV mounting in Wilmette is flat-rate: $119 up to 60", $129 for 61–85" and from $179 for 86" and larger, plus $40 for each additional TV. Mounts from $39, cables hidden in a raceway for $39 or inside the wall for $69. No travel fee and no surcharge for plaster or brick.
East Wilmette and Kenilworth homes have plaster over wood lath, formal living rooms with fireplaces and family rooms added later with drywall. We check each wall; plaster gets slow drilling and anchors into the studs behind the lath. Studs behind plaster.
Finished basements have concrete foundation walls under drywall. Masonry anchors through the furring strips, cables run along the joists to the equipment. Concrete walls.
The formal living room keeps its fireplace and art; the Samsung Frame lets it do both. Flush mount, One Connect box in a cabinet, one thin cable inside the wall ($69). Frame TVs.
Many older Wilmette houses have a family room added off the kitchen, with drywall and a gas fireplace. We check the heat above the firebox and use a pull-down mount ($99) when the mantel is high. TVs over fireplaces.
10,679 homes and about 27,503 residents. The age and type of a home decide what is behind the drywall, so we check this before we quote.

U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020–2024 5-year estimates: year built, units in structure, tenure.
With 55.5% of homes built before 1960, most Wilmette TV walls we open are plaster over lath or an early drywall family room, and many living rooms are arranged around a chimney. Detached houses make up 76.3% of the stock, so most visits run on your schedule, not a building's contractor hours. The 14.3% in buildings of 20+ units are the exception: there we check board rules and send a certificate of insurance before booking.
Chicago magazine counted 48 Wilmette teardowns in 2014, up from 15 to 20 a year in 2009 to 2011, so old and new houses now share blocks. Pavlo may drill slowly through early plaster in a house built by developer Clarence Hemphill in the morning, then mount on fresh drywall next door after lunch. West of Ridge Road the ranches resemble Glenview's: plain studs, so a 65-inch tilt is often done within the hour.
In a new build, ask whether the builder roughed in a recessed box behind the TV spot; then hiding the cables ($69) goes quickly, with HDMI dropped to a basement rack if you like. A new outlet is an electrician's job under the Village's electrical permit. The TV's power cord never goes inside the wall; a listed in-wall kit carries power instead.

Older Wilmette living rooms still hold working wood-burning fireplaces. Before any bracket goes up, Pavlo burns the fire, or runs gas logs on high, for 20 minutes and reads the surface where you want the screen. If it reads too hot, the TV moves to a pull-down mantel mount that parks high while the fire burns ($99 for assembly), beside the hearth, or higher on a tilt.
Chimney breasts here are often plaster over solid brick with no studs to find. We drill two test holes inside the plate's footprint, set sleeve anchors into the faces of the bricks, not the mortar between them, and pull-test each one, as we do in Evanston. Cultured stone is not structure; anchors pass through it into brick or framing. Painted brick gets anchor holes only, with dust collection. Check your height with our viewing-height tool.

No conduit behind the recessed box, so we fished HDMI to the basement rack; power runs on a listed in-wall kit.

Knotty-pine paneling hid the studs; pilot holes behind the plate confirmed each one.
