What this means for your TV wall

SouthPark splits almost evenly between houses and apartments: 49.6% of homes are detached, while 22.1% sit in buildings of 20 or more units. Rentals are common too, at 45.7%, so we often mount TVs for people who need a clean move-out. The median home dates to 1983, but 22.9% were built since 2010, which means you get both 1960s plaster-and-drywall ranches and brand-new walls on tall framing. Gas heats 46.9% of homes, and a gas fireplace under the TV is the norm in newer family rooms.

Phillips Place was so new when it opened that the city had no zoning category for a mix of shops, a hotel and homes stacked above them. That mix keeps growing: The Colony on Roxborough Road is planning 260 more homes. For poured-concrete walls, read our guide to mounting on concrete.

Big screens and clean walls

Most SouthPark owners we visit want one thing: a large TV with no visible cords. A 65-inch install is $129, and hiding the wires inside the wall is $69. The TV's power never runs loose inside the wall — we use a listed in-wall power kit, or your electrician adds an outlet behind the screen. Over a gas fireplace we always test the heat first and check the angle with our TV height calculator. If you'd rather have art than a black rectangle, ask about Frame TV installation. Volodymyr also covers Ballantyne, and older homes just north are in Myers Park.

Renovated French Provincial home in Foxcroft

  • 75-inch
  • old plaster over drywall
  • full-motion

A remodel had layered new drywall over the original plaster, so studs read deeper than usual; we confirmed each one with a small test hole and used longer lag bolts.

Apartment in a mid-rise off Barclay Downs Drive

  • 65-inch
  • steel studs + drywall
  • tilting

The lease ruled out cutting into the wall, so we used snap-toggles rated for steel studs and a paintable raceway the tenant can peel off at move-out.

New custom home in Morrocroft

  • 85-inch
  • stone over a framed chase
  • pull-down

After a 20-minute full-flame burn the spot above the gas logs ran warm, so a second technician helped fit a manual pull-down that drops the screen to eye level.

TV mounting in SouthPark, NC: common questions

Can you mount a TV over a gas fireplace in SouthPark?
Yes, after checking the heat and the height. When the mantel is tall, a pull-down mount brings the screen to eye level.
Do you mount 85-inch and larger TVs?
Yes — with a heavy-duty mount rated for the weight and a second technician for the lift when needed.
How much does TV mounting cost in SouthPark?
$119 up to 60 inches, $129 up to 85 inches and from $179 for 86 inches and larger. No travel fee.
Can you hide all the wires?
Usually yes — power and HDMI inside the wall to a recessed outlet, or a painted raceway on concrete.
Do you work in SouthPark condo buildings?
Yes. We send the certificate of insurance, book the elevator and follow the building's hours.
I rent near SouthPark Mall. Will mounting cost me my deposit?
We mount into studs with small, clean holes and can use a removable raceway instead of opening the wall. When you move, we take the TV down ($49) and patch the holes so they're easy to touch up.
Can I put a satellite dish or outdoor TV on my condo balcony?
Under the federal OTARD rule, an owner can usually install a dish on an exclusive-use balcony or patio, though the association may limit common walls and roofs. An outdoor TV is a separate matter, so ask your board. We mount on your own balcony area only, never on shared exterior walls.
Is a new tower going up nearby? Can you come right after I move in?
Yes. New buildings like Hazel SouthPark and the planned Gallery SouthPark tower mean lots of move-ins, and we book same-day slots around elevator reservations. Send your building's insurance form with the request and we'll return the certificate before the visit.
