Idlewood split-level den
Hollow block sat behind the furring, so Mykola set sleeve anchors in the solid web of each block, never a mortar joint.

Tucker is a town of 1960s and 70s split-levels under oaks and pines, with Main Street at its center and Northlake changing fast on its western edge. Mykola, our south-side technician, mounts TVs in sunken dens and over gas-log fireplaces here every week, often the same day you call, at a flat price.
TV mounting in Tucker is flat-rate: $119 up to 60", $129 for 61–85" and from $179 for 86" and larger, plus $40 for each additional TV. Mounts from $39, cables hidden in a raceway for $39 or inside the wall for $69. No travel fee and no surcharge for stone or plaster.
Split-level homes put the den half a level down, often with a brick fireplace on a foundation wall. We check whether the wall is framed or concrete block behind the drywall and pick lag bolts or masonry anchors accordingly. Concrete walls.
Smoke Rise homes are larger, with stone fireplaces and vaulted living rooms. Sleeve anchors go into the stone faces, never the mortar, and we check the heat above the firebox. Brick and stone.
Many Tucker dens still have a built-in cabinet made for a tube TV. We mount the new screen on the wall above or beside it, run cables inside the wall ($69), and the cabinet becomes storage for the soundbar and consoles.
A TV over a brick fireplace is fine when the mantel is low; when it isn't, a pull-down mount ($99) or the wall beside it is kinder to your neck. TVs over fireplaces.
16,355 homes and about 37,123 residents. The age and type of a home decide what is behind the drywall, so we check this before we quote.
63% owner-occupied · 37% rented
U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020–2024 5-year estimates: year built, units in structure, tenure.
With a median year built of 1981 and 42.3% of homes going up during the split-level boom, most Tucker TV walls are drywall on wood studs upstairs, block or poured concrete behind the lower-level den, and red brick around the hearth. Utility gas heats 67.3% of homes, so the fireplace you want to mount over usually burns gas logs, which means a burn test before we pick the height. Northlake renters mostly choose raceway over opening a wall.
Northlake Mall became part of Tucker around 2019, and the area is now being redeveloped: Emory Healthcare is building space there for about 1,600 employees, and in June 2025 developers pitched almost 500 apartments on the old JCPenney site. A mile away, the council approved a mixed-use project with 409 apartments in 2022. For us that means more Tucker jobs on steel or wood studs in new mid-rise buildings, where the lease or the property manager sets the rules. Before the visit, ask the office whether you may anchor into the walls and whether they need our certificate of insurance. We bring toggles rated for metal studs, use a renter-friendly raceway for HDMI when the wall must stay closed, and leave the TV power cord plugged into its own outlet, never inside the wall.

Most Tucker requests fit Mykola's route the same day, since his crew already works Stone Mountain, Decatur and Lawrenceville. Send a photo of the wall and tell us what sits behind it if you know: the upper floor of a split-level is usually studs, the den below often block. A 65-inch on a fixed or tilting mount is $129, quoted flat before we drill. A new outlet behind the TV is electrician's work, and the City of Tucker Building and Permitting department takes applications through its online portal, with questions to permits@tuckerga.gov. Remodeling a lower level? Ask your contractor whether the umbrella permit the city has offered still applies, since it lets one permit cover a whole job; we can set a conduit before the drywall closes and mount the TV after the paint. The stone is veneer, so lag bolts went through it into the framed chase; the 15-minute burn test moved the TV six inches higher.

No opening the wall under the lease: the HDMI rides in a painted raceway and the TV plugs into the outlet behind it.
