Greystone in Arlington-Deming
Brick party wall under thick plaster: one test hole found the brick, and sleeve anchors went into brick faces.

Lincoln Park fits three kinds of TV wall into one ZIP code: 19th-century cottages and greystones on the landmark blocks by Arlington and Deming, lakefront condo buildings, and new homes with roof decks off Orchard and Greenview. Pavlo leads our North Side crew; most requests get a same-day or next-day visit.
TV mounting in Lincoln Park is flat-rate: $119 up to 60", $129 for 61–85" and from $179 for 86" and larger, plus $40 for each additional TV. Mounts from $39, cables hidden in a raceway for $39 or inside the wall for $69. No travel fee and no surcharge for plaster or brick.
Greystones and row houses have plaster over wood lath, ornate trim, and original fireplaces with marble or tile surrounds. We anchor above the surround into the chimney breast or framing, check the heat, and drill plaster slowly so it doesn't crack. TVs over fireplaces.
New single-family homes have drywall on wood studs, gas fireplaces with TV niches and a media room in the lower level. Two studs and lag bolts; cables inside the wall with a power kit ($69).
Front parlors in greystones are for art, not screens. A Samsung Frame in art mode, flush to the wall with the One Connect box hidden in a cabinet, is the Lincoln Park answer. Frame TVs.
Rooftop decks are the summer living room. We mount outdoor-rated TVs under a pergola roof or a solid cover, with stainless hardware and sealed connections, and plan for wind and winter removal. Outdoor TVs.
38,918 homes and about 70,693 residents. The age and type of a home decide what is behind the drywall, so we check this before we quote.

U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020–2024 5-year estimates: year built, units in structure, tenure. Census figures for ZIP Code 60614 — there is no separate Census boundary for Lincoln Park.
Here, 42.0% of homes sit in buildings of 20 or more units and 55.9% are rented, so many TV walls come with a management office, an insurance certificate and set contractor hours. Meanwhile 39.0% of units predate 1960: plaster over lath, brick behind it in the greystones and two-flats, and often a radiator under the window. Detached houses are rare, and many are recent builds on wood studs, where an in-wall cable run is the easy case.
Arlington-Deming belonged to Lake View Township until Chicago annexed it in 1889, so it skipped the city's post-1871 ban on frame construction and its first buildings were small wood-frame cottages. Greystones followed; one on Deming dates to 1883. So the same block can hold plaster on lath over wood studs next door to plaster over solid brick. Pavlo begins with a stud scan and one small test hole inside the bracket footprint, where the plate will cover it. On studs he lags in; on brick he sets sleeve anchors in the brick faces, never in a mortar joint. Lath and old blocking make in-wall runs a gamble, so cables here usually go in slim raceway painted to the trim ($39). Expect about an hour and a half on site. Our guide to finding studs behind plaster shows the method.

Most Lincoln Park households live in larger buildings, so send the building's rules with your request. About nine in ten lakefront associations ask for a certificate naming them, and about half want the service elevator booked two days ahead; we handle both before the visit. Renters get one mount, few holes and cables in paintable raceway. The TV's power cord never runs inside the wall or in that raceway; an outlet behind the screen is a licensed electrician's job. On the new builds along Orchard, Greenview and Racine, the roof deck, sometimes with a second one over the garage, is where summer evenings happen. Full-shade outdoor models are rated to run only above 32°F, so we check the rating before mounting. A 65- or 75-inch deck TV is priced at $129; see our outdoor TV service or request a same-day visit.

“Our only good TV wall is the brick one we share with the neighbors. Pavlo drilled into the brick, not the mortar, and ran a raceway painted to match. It looks like it was built in.”
