Corner and Ceiling TV Mount Solutions in Miami Homes and Condos

When a Miami condo is all glass or the only wall is a corner: corner full-motion arms, ceiling mounts into post-tensioned slabs (with a scan), open-plan swivel setups and how we decide between them.

  4. Deciding

Miami architecture loves glass. Floor-to-ceiling windows in Edgewater and Sunny Isles, open plans in new Doral townhouses, living rooms where the only solid surface is a corner or a column. Here's how we put a TV where there seems to be no wall.

Option 1: a corner full-motion arm

The most common answer. A long-arm full-motion mount (20–25 inches of extension) goes on one of the two walls, just off the corner. The arm reaches out and angles the screen toward the sofa; folded, the TV tucks into the corner.

  • The wall needs solid anchoring — six sleeve anchors in concrete, or two studs.
  • The TV must clear both walls when turned: measure the TV width and arm length first.
  • Cables drop straight down the corner in a paintable raceway that almost disappears.

More on the mount types: tilt vs full-motion.

Option 2: a ceiling mount

When there's no wall at all — a glass living room, a kitchen island, a home gym.

  • Post-tensioned slabs: many Miami towers have steel tendons inside the ceiling concrete. Drilling into one is dangerous and expensive. The building must approve, and the slab must be scanned first.
  • Wood joists in houses: lag bolts into the center of a joist.
  • Drop ceilings: the mount must reach the structure above.

Option 3: a column or half-wall

A structural column is often the best TV wall in a glass apartment. We check what it's made of (concrete columns are excellent), then treat it like any concrete wall.

Frequently asked questions

Can you mount a TV in a corner?
Yes, with a long-arm full-motion mount anchored on one of the two walls; the arm reaches out of the corner and turns the screen toward the seating. Dedicated corner mounts that span both walls exist but are rarely needed.
Can you drill into a Miami condo ceiling?
Many Miami high-rises have post-tensioned concrete slabs that must be scanned before drilling. Check with the building; some require their engineer's approval or forbid ceiling mounts entirely.
Corner mount or ceiling mount — which is better?
A corner full-motion arm is simpler, cheaper and easier to approve. Ceiling mounts make sense when there is truly no usable wall, or in kitchens, gyms and commercial spaces.
