Dallas–Fort Worth has more tall fireplaces than almost any market we serve: two-story family rooms in Frisco and McKinney, Austin stone surrounds in Plano, brick in older Dallas neighborhoods. A TV above them is 70–80 inches off the floor. A pull-down mount fixes that.

Why DFW homes are made for pull-down mounts

  • Tall mantels — often 54–60 inches to the mantel top, so the TV center ends up near 80 inches.
  • Big rooms — the sofa is far enough back that a large TV lowered to eye level is comfortable.
  • Gas fireplaces that do get warm — lowering the TV to watch also moves it out of the warm zone.

Picking the model

MantelMount and similar brands come in standard and heavy-duty versions. What decides it:

Stone, brick and what's behind

Austin stone and cultured stone are usually veneer — an inch or two thick — over a wood-framed or block chase. The veneer alone can't carry a pull-down mount. We find the studs or block behind and anchor through the stone into them. Solid brick takes sleeve anchors in the brick face, never the mortar. The stone often isn't flat, so we shim the plate to keep the mount plumb. More: mounting on stone and uneven surfaces in Dallas.

Tuning

The struts are adjusted to the TV's exact weight, the stops are set to clear the mantel and the ceiling, and the auto-straightening handle is leveled. Done right, the TV glides with two fingers and stays put. Done wrong, it drifts down during a movie.

Cables

The mount travels up to two feet, so the cables need a service loop. On a framed chase we run them inside; on stone or brick we route them down the side and behind the mantel.

Frequently asked questions

Do you install MantelMount in Dallas?
Yes. We assemble, anchor and tune MantelMount and similar pull-down mounts across Dallas–Fort Worth, including Plano, Frisco, McKinney and Arlington.
Which MantelMount model do I need?
It depends on the TV's weight and width and on your mantel. Standard models cover most 50–75 inch TVs; heavier or wider TVs need the heavy-duty version. Send us the TV model and we will check.
Can a MantelMount go on Austin stone?
Yes, anchored into the structure behind the stone. Many Dallas fireplaces are stone veneer over a wood or block chase, so we locate what is behind before choosing anchors.
How much does it cost?
Pull-down mount assembly and setup $99 plus TV installation: $119 up to 60 inches, $129 up to 85 inches.
